I’ve purchased multiple firearms through Ryan, and I’ve know him for years. Very smooth and easy process. Also, working in the industry for a few different firearm stores I can attest to the fact that buying/selling a firearm isn’t something you can take lightly. Obviously there are very serious laws and rules that must be followed without any deviation. I will continue to purchase firearms and accessories through Derby Gun & Transfer and always recommend this local company.

When buying a long gun, we were denied FFL. Due to an error on the reporting timelines. Ryan acted as if we were criminals and offered no information. Later telling us that he didn’t want our business, even though we thoroughly explained the situation and gave him multiple options, his inability to help us work through the error cost us around $1500.00, due to the gun purchase being an auction with no refunds. Couldn’t be more disappointed with a local derby patron, I understand his sentiment in not wanting to create a situation of a straw purchase, but we clearly gave him multiple options that provided legal means for this firearm to be transferred suggested by our legal representation. The professionalism, was very low, having to meet with him and being rescheduled, then him clearly acting like we were literally criminals, him stating “ take our business somewhere else”, I own 12 business in the derby area am a very well respected individual and have never seen such lack of patronage in this small town as I have with this individual. It is my strong opinion that his lack of experience knowledge and understanding is truly concerning when dealing with the transfer of any weapons. I’d seriously suggest using one of the others we have never had an issue purchasing a weapon before. Simply put, there are better options in the derby area. I hope you choose the others over this completely unprofessional home based business with no desire to help you if the transaction isn’t 100% smooth. We own 20-30 guns and have never had an issue like this before. Stay safe and beware this guy doesn’t care if your purchase isn’t refundable. I’d hate to see others less fortunate than us get taken advantage of by his lack of education empathy compassion and professionalism. Two days after the review I get this cryptic message indicating he was gunna keep my gun unless I sent him 60 bucks. Complete waste of human space. I’m warning you this guy is a complete joke.
