Great place. Good prices. A little out of the way, but worth the effort.
1st time I stepped in Hoovers years ago I felt like they didn’t want to sell guns. They were busier chatting with one another and a couple people while a few of us were left standing with no help, and at one point my son who was maybe 5 at the time told me one of the older employees pushed him out of the way. I didn’t see it myself and was hoping that wasn’t the case but i never forgot him telling me that. Took forever to buy a box of ammo and they misplaced my debit card too. The most recent time I went to pick up my 1st and last 1200.00 rifle, I had never been so disgusted spending that kind of money on something I wanted. They should have gave me my background check told me what was required and walked away. If I abbreviated Mt. or Rd. On the slip the guy would pick it up and rip it and said let’s do this again. I finally had enough and took the form outside and filled it out. Upon coming back in I was basically attacked, threatened I would not be leaving with that gun I’m guessing by the owner. I never had any problems filling out a background check and certainly didn’t have anyone standing over me. On top of being frustrated over that the guy forgot to hand me my ID and of course I forgot it there. Either way, I’m a vet with severe ptsd, work hard out in the elements for my money, and will not be spending another dime on that store. I will take my hard earned dollar to someone 100 miles away that is respectful before I spend another dime there.
