Target is a scam! They promise you a free Welcome kit when you create your baby registry and buy some small purchase, but they will never send it to you, because it's always out of stock. So please, don't waste your time with their registries and "free" gifts, because it's a SCAM!
Bought a Tame Impala vinyl in-store at Target Gilroy. Defective — skipped throughout. Bought the same album again. Also defective. Asked for a refund. Store Director offered store credit only, citing a policy "on the website." No signage at the entrance, register, or on my receipt — which California law (Civil Code § 1723) requires. Contacted Guest Relations. Over two weeks I dealt with five different representatives. One asked me to provide details already in my original email. Another told me to resolve my in-store purchase through Target.com because — and I quote — "since your purchase was online." I have a printed store receipt and a bank statement saying "Mobile Purchase PIN Based" at Target Gilroy. After escalating to Target's CEO and COO, "Executive Guest Relations" called me. She hadn't read the case either. Asked me to repeat everything on file. Asked for my receipt — already submitted, she found it herself. Then called again the next day, repeated the online purchase claim, and accused me of changing my facts. She then refused to deal with me because someone else's Target Circle loyalty number was scanned at checkout. I am the cardholder. I made the purchase. I have the receipt. I have now filed a complaint with the California Attorney General's office and initiated a chargeback with my bank. The amount: $46.90. The principle: everything.
